Mousepads are typically made from rubber composites with synthetic fabric bonded to the surface, used to enhance the useability of the mouse.
A wool mousepad is by far the easiest way to add natural wool fibre into your home or work office (or go both, like I did). And not just any wool, these products designed and manufactured by HEY-SIGN in Germany are finished by hand and use pure new Merino wool, sourced from Australia and New Zealand and carry the WOOLMARK label.
Great reasons to add wool to your interior furnishings and office space:
- Healthier indoor environment through humidity control
- Better indoor air quality: Increasing time indoors increases exposure to Volatile Organic Carbons (VOCs), released from many products found in our homes and offices. Common VOCs, which are implicated as a cause of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS), can be absorbed and chemically bound by wool, improving ambient air quality. When used as furniture, carpets, clothing, or insulation, wool can be a sustainable and natural solution to the problem of accumulating indoor contaminants.

Purchased from Felt&Co: I bought two large with anti-slip backing, price at $35 each – free shipping for orders over $50 with a discount code (by subscribing to the Felt & Co newsletter -$10.50) for a total of $59.50 or $29.80 each delivered.
There are some brighter colours available but I got one in Anthracite and the other in Light Grey Mixture (photos further below). I’m a bit of a sucker for motley-grey woollen tones! That and my work office desk is light and my home office desk is light and there is something comforting about having wool while stuck at the computer.

By rights, my mouse shouldn’t need a mousepad, the sensors allow it to track on any surface, even glass – however I wasn’t loving how scuffed the bottom was getting and any excuse for more wool! I also like to traditional look of a place for the mouse. I do not recommend wool felted mouse pads for mice with less than smooth bases. My former Microsoft Wireless 5000 had groves to snap hold the USB receiver and these led to noticeable snagging/catching on the woollen surface.
Felt&Co also stock a great range of dining room place mats, coasters tech accessories and interior decorations (There are red reindeer! And snowflakes. And stars! )
