Lanolips 101 Ointment | WOOL FOR EVERY DAY

In June 2019, I was fortunate enough to travel to Italy on a wool study tour. Sure, the standard work uniform and wool clothing was packed (light, layerable and less laundering) But also a new tube of Lanolips 101 Ointment! I’d read about this wool based, award winning, ‘cult’ product and was keen to try it – and thanks to dad genes, I’ve got a bit of lip real-estate to look after.

Heading to schools and talking with students – the next generation of consumers – prompting them on whether they have mum or dad use face cream and makeup or used it themselves and explain why working with wool day after day makes for super soft hands and see their faces change and hands come forward eagerly wanting to touch and feel the lanolin naturally present in the wool.

Recently, I was a bit disappointed when I checked my own bathroom cupboards to see how few of my products used lanolin or lanolic acid, the natural protective layer and byproduct of wool. So I’m actively taking steps to change this.

Alternative to petroleum-based skin care: Lanolin is the perfect, natural alternative to balms using petroleum bases because it naturally mimics human oils. Petroleum, petrolatum is a petrochemical derived from crude oil — a mix of mineral oils and waxes that oil workers used to heal their wounds and burns.

6 months in and there is still plenty of Lanolips 101 in the tube, a little goes a long way! Paw paw ointment used to be my go to – and I’ll continue to use it until it’s finished, but as a wool broker and passionate wool advocate this natural, Australian made, wool-based product definitely has a full time place in my life!

The results: My lips are smoother and more hydrated than they have ever been, which is exactly what you’d expect from something that can hold 200% of its weight in moisture. Lanolin has amazing protective properties, an ultra medical grade version is just super charged! And its perfect on dry patches, bumps, bites and scratches as well.

Where to find it: Available online from Lanolips 15g/$18.95AUD, includes a list of stockists. I picked up one instore at Priceline 15/g at $18.99 (no shipping or wait!) And there is a a wind-up version available too (with a natural wax to thicken and a slightly lower hydration factor).

Have you used this?
Or can you recommend other skin care with lanolin for me?
